There arguably has never a time when cleaner air has been more important than it is today. Whether we’re looking at the air we breathe at home, at work, in our schools, hospitals, clinics, when traveling, at restaurants, movie theaters, or even when driving in your own car, we are faced with very serious challenges. We are constantly surrounded by some very nasty bugs including “superbugs”, viruses, molds, and bacteria. Through this unique NASA developed and Air Oasis enhanced technology “LUNA” has the answer to all of these challenges and more.

Amarillo, Texas- October 5, 2009
The Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge workshops kicked off for the fifteenth year on October 1st with twenty growth- minded entrepreneurs in attendance. The Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge is a program designed to assist entrepreneurs in launching a new business or expanding an existing business. All participants gain a better understanding of how to develop and follow a realistic, bankable business plan.
This year qualifying entrants can request a share of $500,000 in capital funding grants and have the opportunity to join the WTAMU Enterprise Center business incubation program.
To qualify for the Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge, a business must be a for-profit "basic" business. To meet this definition, the business must document within the three year business plan that at least 75% of your company's sales would come from outside the Amarillo area.
To date, 40 businesses have received cash grants of as much of $75,000 each, totaling over $2.13 million in grants over the last fourteen years. Altogether, these firms have created more than 312 new jobs and bring more than $24 million into the Amarillo economy. In addition, these companies have invested over $5 million in additional capital since receiving their grants.
2009 Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge grant recipients are seeing larger profits and business growth as a result of their involvement in the program. 2009 recipient Johnna Pointer, owner of HOOP 10, explains how the Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge has grown her business over the past year,
“Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge has made a tremendous impact on HOOP 10 Basketball! Going through the application process taught me a great deal about HOOP 10 and the world of business in general. I recognized HOOP 10’s strengths and weaknesses. I saw potential that I had not seen, and I became very excited about the future. The resources at the center are unbelievable, and the people are invaluable. With their guidance and direction, I have tackled HOOP 10’s weaknesses and developed strengths.
As a direct result of leadership at the center, HOOP 10 Basketball is growing! For example, I have increased advertisement and brought event promotion to a new level. These changes have made a difference.Winning an Enterprize Challenge grant sets a business apart from others, and the publicity that comes with winning is consequential. The grant has given HOOP 10 Basketball status and prestige within the community and the surrounding area. While the process is tedious and the competition is fierce, the results are immeasurable. I am grateful to everyone at Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge."
Founded in 2006, Hoop 10 is an instructional basketball service for area players and coaches designed to provide a better understanding of the game by offering professional guidance and instruction through informative training sessions, camps and clinics, teams, and tournaments.

What does it mean to be "consciously present?"
Written by: David Terry, Executive Director
Jerry recently posted a quote to his Facebook profile that read, "The most powerful thing we can do is to be consciously present."
He is always one to provide a good thought provoker... The most powerful thing we can do? So, what does it require to be consciously present? To be consciously present is to be aware in the moment. To listen more than talk. To be completely focused on another, their words, body language. To care about someone else and their ideas more than your own. To be still. It takes all of me to be present. No multitasking. No agenda. Each time I'm around Jerry, I feel important, respected and heard - like I'm the only person that matters at that moment. He practices being consciously present.
A few weeks ago our foursome had just teed off from the par 37th tee box when a single player caught up to us. He was playing much faster than us. Courteously, Jerry asked the player if he'd like to hit and play ahead of us, to which he agreed. The player, a young boy, hit his golf ball and we all made our way to the green (or around the green in my case). Even in that moment, Jerry politely, but consciously asked the boy his name, where he went to school, and they exchanged other pleasantries. For a brief moment, Jerry separated himself from our group to respect and encourage a young boy... conscious presence.
In the midst of a busy lifestyle, sometimes I find myself physically present but emotionally still at work or thinking of other things I need to be doing. Or in conversation, often I'm either talking or getting ready to talk. How different might all of our relationships be - with our spouse, family members, customers, or coworkers - if we practiced being consciously present? That's powerful.
